The efficiency of contact agrochemicals is directly related to their deposition and retention on the plant surface.

Improving Deposition and Retention :

• increases the amount of agrochemical hitting the target,
• helps keep the spray droplet on the target after impact,
• reduces losses due to rain / irrigation or evaporation,
• extends the treatment efficiency.

This category of adjuvant is added to spray solutions to minimise the production of fine droplets (usually less than 100 microns diameter).

A wetting adjuvant increases the spreading of a spray droplet by reducing the surface tension between the droplet and target surface.

The wetting effect has to be considered according to treatments type :

• contact,
• systemic,
• penetrant.
